As we get further into a new console generation, the prices on last gen titles start dropping like a rock, and us savvy collectors get to reap the benefits. I must stress that now is the time to buy, especially if you see a good deal on a PS3 game released within the past year or so.

Obviously, fewer copies of these games are being printed as the demand for current gen stuff eats up the market. Yet once the collectors come sniffing, it’s these low print-run games that end up the mega rarities. Don’t believe me, look at the PS2? .Hack//Sign, Rule of Rose, Haunting Ground, Ju-On the Grudge… all of these saw release late in the PS2’s lifespan, and it’s not a coincidence that they are now some of the rarest games for the system.

Anyhow, this is why I think $12 for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is an obvious buy. My copy even came with the Tarot Cards and Teddie bop bag which were only included with the first run of the game. That… kind of rules.

Anyway, here’s some stuff I’ve either bought already, or am waiting for them to get to around the $12 price point before I pull the trigger. Prices fluctuate on these because of Amazon’s weird algorithms, so check back (and fire me an tweet once Under Night hits my price point!).

I’ll update this page if the Bop Bag / Tarot Cards are reported as no longer being available, but until then I’m honestly considering picking up multiple copies as a long-term investment. Persona is a series with a devoted fan following, these won’t remain in stock too long!

Yes, the five exclamation points are part of the actual title, lol. I think this will hit $10. This game is as niche as they come, and the price isn’t going anywhere. That being said, $16 won’t break the bank.

Again, I’m personally gonna wait a bit on this one, but if you’re the kind of RPG collector who isn’t interested in trying to squeeze a few extra dollars of value out of Amazon, go nuts.

Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars (Vita)  | $12.56 at time of posting.
Verdict: Buy
I’m bullish on the Vita market. Not only do I love handheld stuff, but the Vita It’s a weird console with some super low print runs. My copy came with the soundtrack and all. The 3DS version is currently $19.82 through a secondary retailer, though I’d hold off at that price. Reviews were not terribly kind to this game.
